The notion of intelligence-led policing is becoming more prevalent as
law enforcement agencies nationwide aim to become more proactive at
preventing all types of serious crime. A majority of experts believe
that a nexus does exist among types of criminal activity, including
illegal drug operations, money laundering, fraud, identity theft and
terrorism. It is well known that some of the 9/11 terrorists were cited
for traffic violations prior to the attacks. Many security experts
believe there is a high probability of identifying terrorist through
their involvement in precursor, or lower level criminal activity. This
presentation will provide an in-depth explanation of the new all
threats, all crimes, all hazards policing policy today being utilized
by the NJ State Police and the role of state fusion centers in the
strategy.
