Combating Crime and protecting our national infrastructure has become increasingly complex due to the sophistication of the perpetrators and the incredible array of tools and systems at their disposal. These same technologies, often developed and owned by the private sector, are used for both legitimate and illegitimate purposes and pose significant challenges. While government agencies have the authority and experience in conducting investigations, the technical expertise and access to control mechanisms is the domain of private companies. At the same time, private sector innovators have a strong interest in their technology not being used for criminal activity. Thus cooperation between the two is not only desirable but also an imperative. This session will explore key areas of public-private cooperation and provide specific information on best practices and guidance on how government officials can leverage private sector resources and technological know- how to accomplish their mission.
