This session will review the “critical success factors” that lead to a quality "business impact analysis" (BIA). It will also discuss the pitfalls that probably guarantee failure.
Areas discussed include:
• What should the project plan be?
• How long should it take?
• What kind of survey should be used? How long?
• What should be the goals?
• What about interviews versus workshops?
• What is the Output?
• Sponsors: are they required? Who should it be? Who shouldn’t it be?
• How do you get management buy-in to conduct a BIA?
• What kind and how much resource does it require to conduct a BIA? What % participation is required? What % should be expected?
In addition, sample surveys will be reviewed and distributed along with sample After Action Reports.
Workshop Deliverables:
• Kick-off Power Point – why do a BIA, it’s importance, notes for the executive sponsor
• Sample parts of surveys from actual questionnaires from manufacturing, healthcare, and not for profits: financials, minimum resources, interdependencies
• Sample wall charts from an actual BIA workshop
• Sample excerpts from an After Action Report
