Cyber Defense Advisory Subject Matter Expert for the U.S. at NATO

Curtis KS Levinson CDP, CISSP-CAP, MBCP, CCSK is a cyber security and information assurance technology thought leader, innovator and executive with over 25 years of focused experience specializing in the assessment, design, security, implementation and remediation of cyber computer and telecommunications-based solutions to a wide variety of problems. He directly interfaces with Federal senior executives and serves as trusted cyber advisor to multiple Agencies across all branches of government. Mr. Levinson has multi-faceted experience from multiple perspectives including Industry, Government, Military and Intelligence Community and served two sitting Presidents of the United States, two Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Chief Justice of the United States.

Mr. Levinson was recently selected by NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) to represent the United States as an advisory subject matter expert on Cyber Defense for the IRCSG (Industrial Resources and Communications Services Group). This group falls under NATO’s Civil-Military Planning and Support Section, which is essential to the Alliance’s common defense and security. In this role, he will serve as a technical adviser and provide guidance to the NATO IRCSG on Cyber issues and specific NATO-related electronic communications. His role also provides outreach to national authorities, the private sector and international organizations. This critical access to technical expertise enables NATO to respond to its civil and military stakeholders by addressing information requests for emergency response within a NATO operational contest.

Previously, he served as the Chief Security Officer and Director of Information Assurance at Qwest Government Services, Inc. a CenturyLink Company, where he is was responsible for the design, development and implementation of comprehensive cyber security for telecommunications and information technology, and served as the regulatory compliance authority for all Federal sectors, including civilian, defense and intelligence. He also represented Qwest Government Services on the President’s National Security Telecommunications Committee (NSTAC), National Coordinating Center of the National Communications System (NCC/NCS) and the National CyberSecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC); ¬†participated on the Department of Homeland Security; Cyber Collaboration, Next Generation Cyber, CyberStorm III/IV Planning Committees, Cloud Computing for National Security and Emergency Preparedness and Identity Management Task Forces, and served on the Qwest International Risk Review Board for secure technologies related to international development and deployment.

His areas of technical expertise and delivery include Cyber Security, Information Assurance, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, Telecommunications and Network Hardening and Resilience, Cyber Identity Management and Protection, Secure Technology Design and Implementation, Cyber Attribution and Forensics, Cryptography, Homeland Security and Critical Infrastructure (CI/KR) Protection, Federal Regulatory Compliance (FISMA / HSPD-12 / IPv6 / NIPP), Certification and Accreditation (FISMA / DCID / NISCAP), Standards Compliance and Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery / Continuity of Operations Planning, Cloud Computing and IPv6 Implementation.

Mr Levinson is a post-graduate in Low Intensity Conflict and Counter Terrorism, The National War College, in Technology Management at University of Pennsylvania – The Wharton School, in Teleinformation at Columbia University – New York, and in Economertics at London School of Economics and Political Science, U. of London. He holds a BS/BS in International Economics from the American University.
