Simulated Emergency Response Training Activities & Demos

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a HazMat responder or enter a confined space or do a confined space rescue? Here’s your chance! Training activities will be led by Captain Koester and his team of experienced instructors to demonstrate the skills necessary to act during emergency situations.


Active Shooter in the Room

Instructor: Steven Adams, Law Enforcement Firearms & SWAT Expert

In this interactive training exercise, Steve Adams, a specialist in Gunfighting, Tactical Teams, Hostage Rescue, Barricaded Gunman, Crisis Entry Team and Active Shooter, will provide instruction and live demonstration of what to do when confronted with an active shooter. Using the Notta Line Furniture training aids provided by Crown Law Enforcement Training Products, replicated items found in the typical office or campus environment will be used to demonstrate a real scenario-based active shooter incident. The training exercise includes basic instruction for Law Enforcement, Teachers, Students, Office Workers or anyone who could be "in the room" when an Active Shooter strikes. Attendees will understand the current mindset/instruction versus “attack the attacker” - the need to think clearly.

Should an attendee volunteer to participate in this interactive training exercise, a Waiver of Liability is required. Waiver of Liability form will be provided by the Instructor prior to participation.


Knife Combat Techniques for Military and Law Enforcement

Instructor: Fred C. Bauer, Corporal, Howell Police (NJ); Director of Gung-Ho Chuan Association

In this interactive training exercise, Corporal Fred Bauer will demonstrate how to effectively deploy a patrol knife under stress, and as a last resort. Attendees will learn simple and effective defensive techniques to quickly end violent confrontations without sustaining serious injuries.

Should an attendee volunteer to participate in training exercise, a Waiver of Liability is required. Waiver of Liability form will be provided prior to participation.


3D Printer Demo

Attendees will learn more about the creation of 3D-printed guns and gun parts on 3D printers - threats to the safety of law enforcement and the public. The demo will also include a handheld 3D scanner used to capture close-ups of crime scenes, details of which can be created on a 3D printer.


Demonstration of Police Cyclist Techniques and Tactics

Members of the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) will demonstrate some of the many tactics and techniques employed by police cyclists, including: bike positioning during low, medium, and high-risk contacts, the tactical L, using the bike as a barrier, and defensive deployment of the bike.


K-9 Criminal Apprehension Demo

A police K-9's primary function is, and always will be, a locating tool to assist officers in apprehending suspects. In some cases, it may even be necessary to use the canine to physically apprehend a subject who is running or hiding in an area that puts officers at risk. In this demonstration, watch and learn how the WMATA K-9 team deploys K-9's for criminal apprehensions in the field.
