Due to the complexity of the cyber-threat landscape, the investigation of cybercrimes requires deep technical expertise and large-scale cross-jurisdictional investigations. Also rapidly evolving technology trends such as big data and open-source intelligence make collaborations between government and industry especially effective.

In this presentation the speakers will share the case study of how INTERPOL and Trend Micro are joining forces to support global law enforcement programs and combat cybercrime. They will explain how big data is affecting the fight against cybercrime and how they are capitalizing on this trend to create an cyber alert using cyber-threat analysis at INTERPOL's Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI). This cyber-specific alert created by the IGCI will be used to share information on cybercrime with not only the law enforcement community but also the general public.

Attendees will hear best practices for creating strategic alliances between government and industry leaders to stay on top of technology trends and, in this case, develop effective countermeasures. Attendees will learn the steps they can take to create a similar partnership to accomplish their most challenging goals.

Session Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will hear an interesting real world example of a private - public partnership. They will learn best practices for creating strategic alliances between government and technology companies.
  2. They will understand the parameters and processes that must be implemented for success.
