Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS)

RISS is a congressionally funded program administered by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.  RISS consists of six regional centers and a technology support center.  RISS serves thousands of local, state, federal, and tribal criminal justice and public safety agencies across the United States in their efforts to successfully resolve criminal investigations and ensure officer safety. RISS also provides services and tools to thousands of public safety and private sector partners through the RISS ATIX program.  For more information about RISS, visit

Learning Objectives:       

  1. Raise awareness of the RISS Secure Cloud (RISSNET) information and intelligence sharing capabilities and how RISS supports the Nation’s public safety mission.
  2. Expand knowledge of the RISS Criminal Intelligence Databases (RISSIntel) which provides real-time, online federated search of more than 35 state, regional and federal partner systems.
  3. Increase officer safety and investigative efficiency through better communication.
