GovSec Final Day: Recap
This was my first time attending the GovSec conference in DC. From the setup to the execution of the conference, I got the feeling that everything was planned with perfection. The location was superb and easily accessible from the metro, which made it a bonus considering the traffic in DC.
Although having recently arrived from Spain and feeling pretty fatigued, I was still able to appreciate the dedication to detail that the organizers of this event have put into GovSec and FOSE. The presentation by Microsoft on developing applications for their Windows 8 Tablet and OS was insightful. Although Apple's iPad and Android Tablets have been around for quite a while and have a firm grip on their customer base in this ever changing market, I believe Microsoft's immersion in this arena will soon bring them up to par with these lead runners.
Lastly, I believe walking around and viewing products and services being offered in the realm of physical security always brings out the enthusiastic child in men. Mr. Paul de Souza and I visited many vendors offering firing range simulation with use of real high end firearms and weapons. This display of might serves as a reflection of the strength of not only our combined Armed Forces, but also that of our civilian sector counterparts.
It has been a pleasure and an honor to have attended GovSec and FOSE this year, and I look forward to returning many more years to come.
