Colonel Wesley L. McClellan is currently assigned as the Deputy Director of Domestic Operations and Force Development, National Guard Bureau. He leads an integrated staff of over 370 staff members who manage counterdrug, domestic response, mission assurance, future operations, joint/interagency training and exercises, CBRN response, cyber, and law enforcement support capabilities for the National Guard Bureau. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Chief of Domestic Operations Support with United States Northern Command’s Operations Directorate, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. He has also served as the Senior National Guard Advisor for Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command as well as the Chief of Operations, Training and Exercises for their Interagency Coordination Directorate.
Prior to his positions at North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command, Colonel McClellan was Chief of the Initiatives Division for the Force Management Directorate, Headquarters Department of the Army, Deputy Chief of Staff G-3/5/7, at the Pentagon. He has held a number of command and staff positions with the Michigan National Guard, National Guard Bureau, and United States Army. He has a master’s degree from Central Michigan University in General Administration and a master’s degree in National Security Strategy as a graduate of the National War College in Washington, D.C.
Colonel McClellan’s awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, Liberation of Kuwait (Saudi Arabia), and Liberation of Kuwait (Kuwait).
