Patrick Morrissey is the former Director of Investigations and Protection Operations for BlackBerry Corporation. He started with BlackBerry in June of 2011 after completing a distinguished 27 year career with the United States Secret Service.
Mr. Morrissey began his career with the Secret Service in 1984 in the Syracuse New York Field Office. He first started investigating electronic crimes in 1988 in the New York Field Office. He continued to focus on this type of investigation from 1990-1993 after being transferred to the San Jose Resident Office in the heart of the Silicon Valley.
In 2000, after completing two permanent protective assignments, Agent Morrissey was promoted to lead the Secret Service Electronic Crimes Special Agent Program. In April of 2002, Agent Morrissey was selected to start the Information Assurance Section of the Secret Service Information Resource Management Division.
In October of 2003, Agent Morrissey was detailed from the Service to assist in the start up the Department of Homeland Security’s National Cyber Security Division. Agent Morrissey was the first Deputy Director for Law Enforcement and Intelligence within the newly formed cyber division. After two years in that position, Agent Morrissey returned to the Secret Service and completed two more protective assignments before being selected to work on a technology focused Enterprise Transformation Task Force in July of 2008.
Mr. Morrissey retired in June of 2011 and started with BlackBerry as the Director of Intelligence and Special Services. Within eighteen months he had moved up to the position of Director of Investigations and Protection Operations where he was responsible for investigations covering both the physical and logical security at BlackBerry. Mr. Morrissey left BlackBerry in January 2014 and is currently working as a private consultant.
Mr. Morrissey grew up in up-state New York and graduated with honors from the State University of New York System with a degree in Public Justice and minor in Forensic Science. He is married with two children and lives in Northern Virginia.
