Captain Laura Dyer law enforcement career started when she was a Student Police Aide with the Department of Public Safety/Police (UMDPS) at the University of Maryland-College Park. Since that time she has risen through the ranks to become a Captain at UMDPS. During her career, she has worked as the patrol division as a patrol officer, supervisor, and administrator. In addition, she has coordinated both Crime Prevention and Grant management at UMDPS.
Over the last 5 years, Captain Dyer has been the Commander of Special Events and has coordinated all aspects of event management for both large and small scale events at Maryland and is considered an expert in the field. Captain Dyer most recently coordinated and implemented a 4 dog K9 unit at UMDPS and is the Commander of that Unit too. Captain Dyer is a lifelong resident in the State of Maryland and grew up in Prince Georges County. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology (UMCP) and two Masters degrees (MBA and Science of Management) from UMUC.
