By utilizing the processing and user interface capabilities of smart phones and tablets, the analyses of spectra, normally left to laboratory-type environments, can be performed real-time, in-field. CNSI began the development of the GammaSight in 2012 with this end in-mind. GammaSight is a pocket-sized detector assembly, containing a complete MCA coupled to a scintillation detector, such as NaI(Tl). The device connects to a smart phone or tablet via Bluetooth, where the user controls the operation of the device and receives data and spectra for display, mapping and analysis. An Android-based application controls the operation, data analysis, data display, and storage/transmission. GammaSight is configured to be Radresponder compatible.
